A great alternative to grenadine for those holiday parties.
Grenadine is one of those bar staples that can kill a good Tiki drink. As a bartender I always thought of grenadine as a cherry syrup (because that's what most commercially available syrups taste like!). However, grenadine is supposed to be a pomegranate syrup. It's waaaay more subtle in those early Tiki recipes than you'll get by dumping a spoon of Rose's in your glass.
I've written about my linking of Tiki spices to holiday drinks before and substituting cranberry syrup for grenadine is another way to give some of your favorite Tiki drinks a holiday bent. It's super easy to make and keeps for a week or two in the refrigerator.
As mentioned in other syrup making posts, I store the mix in bottles with swing top stoppers. If you remember as well as I do, label the bottle with an expiration date.
